Should I cite it?

Turnitin's 10 Types of Plagiarism

What is plagiarism and how can I avoid it?

If you copy ideas and / or phrases from a book, website, database or another source (that are not your own), and use them in your paper or project as if they are your own, that is plagiarism. Plagiarism is a serious violation of the Honor Code (located in the Student Handbook). To avoid plagiarism, you must cite your sources. Citing your sources shows your reader (ie. teacher, classmates, community members, etc.)…

  • that you made the effort to identify, read and understand credible sources of information related to your topic.
  • where you located your sources / how the reader can locate them.
  • that you have integrity and that you respect the work and ideas of others and give them proper credit.

Where should I start my search for articles, primary sources, images and other research materials?
