Do I have to do summer reading this year?
You do indeed! Not only is it fun to read new books and share what you've read (and maybe get some recommendations for other great books to read!), but participants will win cool prizes!
The individual student and the collective grade that reads the most will get special rewards!
How long do I have?
Summer Reading will officially begin on Monday, May 27th and end on September 9th.
Can I choose any book I want?
Yes! You can read any two books so long as each one relates to one of your two chosen prompts. Ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, and fanfiction over 40,000 words absolutely count.
If you need a recommendation, check out some ideas here or email Ms. Allegra!
What if my book works for more than one prompt?
Sorry, you can't double up on prompts! Pick which it fits for best.
What if I want to read more than 2 books?
That's awesome! Anyone who reads for more than 2 of the prompts will be entered in a raffle for some extra cool bookish prizes.
Do I have to write an essay or do a project for this?
Nope, but be prepared to talk to other students about the books you've read & engage in some literary activities when we're back at school!
Where can I access books to read at home?
Check out your local library, borrow books from your friends and family, or buy your books from an independent bookstore!
If you like ebooks or e-audiobooks:
What about AP summer work?
Some AP classes have required reading over the summer. These books do not count towards the summer reading program! Sorry!
